My car randomly idles at 2,000 rpm

When I put back together my engine after replacing my rocker arms, I neglected to connect the gas tank breather hose to the throttle body. Now the engine will idle at 2,000 rpm after it is ran on the freeway for a period over ten minutes. The throttle body is completely shut when the car does this so the only way gas can get into the intake manifold is through the fuel pressure regulator. Before I get a new fuel pressure regulator, what else could be causing this problem?

I'm assuming you hooked up that hose again. And for the record fuel doesn't go through the throttle body. Another thing, did you remember to replace all of the electrical connections when you put it back together? Could you have switched any connectors or forgot to connect anything? Those are the first things to check. You also may want to clean your ICV with some carb cleaner to see if that fixes the problem.

Plug on the ICV tight? Unplugged ICV's sometimes idle at 2k.

Everything is back together properly now. I'll try to clean the ICV today and see if that makes a difference.

Could also be the idle contact switch... commonly called the TPS.. if the car doens't know it is supposed to idle, it won't.
