    squealing coming from engine bay

Ok so I finally got my 87 325e up and running right. Did all the basic maintenance stuff on it as well as replaced all the suspension components(the only thing that isn't new on the suspension is the front strut housing and the sway bars in the front and back). I was driving the car tonight and noticed a squealing noise from the engine bay. It doesn't sound like a belt because it only squeals in 1st gear. Once I accelerate out of 1st into 2nd and higher the squealing stops. It also seems like there is loss of power while in first when accelerating, but all other gears the power seems to be fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Check the belts for starters.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

replace your belts, sucks when you realize all your lights are dimming and you're approaching a hill
