Shaft seal with "funnel" on outside

So Im replacing the shaft seals on my diff and the new seal surface isn't flush. Anyone ever seen a cup style seal installer?

Here is what the seal looks like. If I use my seal installing kit itll crush the outside lip.

Ma che cazzo state dicendo? :|

off the shelf generic tools won't work for these - you will damage the brand new seals trying to install.
the modern BMW seals are complex with very nice lips to pair with dust shields- these are very nicely designed for this reason.
The newer bmw's even have double metal dust seals on each axel stub.

best is to just order the bmw specific tool or machine one that fits perfectly

A suitably sized socket will install that type of seal very nicely if you don't have the correct tool.

I was thinking of using one of my bearing press cups.

use a plastic dead blow hammer or even a brass hammer. Just go slow and be careful

I ended up rounding over the old seal to start it and a brass punch to tap it in the rest of the way.
