    Vibration @ 90 kms

For a while now I have been trying to fix a vibration in the steering wheel that occurs around 90kms under normal driving conditions. The front end has recently been checked over (joints), and new rims and tires were put on. I have run out of ideas for what is causing it, I thought of the drive shaft but the vib is definetly felt in the wheel, not seat or tranny tunnel. Besides the drive shaft too has also had a universal repaired recently at a driveline shop....

Has anyone had this kind of phantom vibration ...? Any ideas?

    Thanks All

i believe that is a sign of a bearing going out... check your hubs.

When you say the front end has been checked over, do you mean everything? Control arm bushings will make a vibration like that if they are worn out.

I am also assuming the wheels were balanced when put on the wheels.

Wheel bearings would be next after all that. Is there any kind of grinding sound with the vibration?

Yeah I hadn't thought of hubs, There is no grinding when occuring. It feels alot like an unbalanced tire but yes all were balanced and nothing changed when the new rims and tires were installed; originally I thought it was just shitty old worn tires. Yes I believe all joints/bushings were looked over and found to be fine; Hubs sound like the only other possible cause. Either that or start from the begining and Re-check everything again...

Try rotating the front wheels/tires to the rear. See if the vibration moves with the wheels/tires, you know where the problem is. It could still be a balance problem, or possibly a wheel or tire that is out of round. It is not unheard of that a brand new tire has a slight flat spot or slightly out of round. If you're using spacers, rotate those too. Hubcentric rings not squaring up may also be a cause.
