The brake light warning has been lighting up my check panel ever since I got the car. I've tried replacing the panel. Right now, my complete interior is out and I'd like to locate the break light relay to try and fix this issue. Where is it? I hear its in the back but I have yet to find it. I have a cabrio but any input would be helpful. Thanks.
Where is the brake light relay?

It's in the trunk, up in front of the antenna motor; but I'd put a new brake light swtich on the pedal before I messed with it.Adam Fogg- '88 M3

They just go bad internally, bad soldering or something. They updated the design now though.Originally posted by BENdashdashThanks, I'll try that. But what is your reasoning for the switch? Corrosion?Adam Fogg- '88 M3

Do any of the brake light bulbs have brass bases?
Are all of your grounds good? Clean connections?
The relay box is in the trunk on the left side, in front of where the power antenna is if you want to swap with a different one.
And you do know that the brake light warning always comes up every time you start the car and should clear itself after you press the pedal?Adam Fogg- '88 M3
