    Any suggestions might help

Since i've owned my car i've had a problem with a low idle, also once i start my car if i don't give it some throttle it dies out, also i sometimes have to give it a little bit of throttle to get started and a little more to keep it from dying. I can hear my fuel pump buzzing clear as day, so i don't think that's the source of the problem. I just changed the fuel filter as well and that did nothing. the only thing i can think of is the fuel pressure regulator?
Anyone else ever have this problem?
By the way it's an 87 so it has two fuel pumps, or an auxiliary pump or something.
    Thanks guys/girls

The most likely cause are intake leaks, a sticky ICV, or a bad idle switch in the TPS. A smoke test will find the leaks, the ICV can cleaned, and the TPS replaced if the switch is bad.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

if its an i I dont think its the right one...if im not mistaken the air/fuel ratio is different on the e so the icv isnt compatible, same as the afm
may you rest in peace, or pieces, whichever comes first

i'm going to buy some sea foam and smoke test it to see if i can find any leaks

A smoke test isn't a DIY. It requires a smoke machine, which costs at least $1000.

So you know how the test is done... The exhaust is plugged and an adapter is substituted for the AFM. Smoke is fed in to the adapter until 2-4psi is reached. That pressure is held for several minutes to allow smoke to work it's way to any crank case leaks.

i didn't mean smoke test like that, i should have said sea foam test sorry for the confusion. You suck sea foam up and let it sit for a few minutes, start your car up and see if the smoke from the sea foam comes out of anywhere besides your exhaust.

It's weird, after driving for a couple days now my idle has seemed to sit about 200rpm lower than usual. All i did was switch a fuel filter, sometimes it would start low but after driving it would be back up to about 700 -800 ish, now it's at 550-600 all the time
