    A/C compressor issue (r12)

Hello guys, I recently had my compressor on my 91' 318i go bad, the clutch stopped spinning so decided a new one would be best. I've called a few car parts stores around town and I've noticed everyone sells r134 compressors instead of r12. I know that the coolant s banned and all , my question is would I have issues buying a r134 compressor and hook it up with the system the car had(r12). Wish I could've kept my r12 comp. Since better cooling but I'm trying to figure out my options and whats going to be needed
