Theres no current @ my coil. Number 28 fuse keeps blowing and always has current even when the key is out. Any suggestions?

short to ground. check for melted wires at the firewall and possible incorrect connection for power to the coil from the DME. Remove the DME, does the fuse still blow? if so, verify no continuity to ground on the power wires to and from the DME. If these are all good, you have an internally shorted DME. Not common, but it can happen.'88 M3.2 S54 Lachssilber/Black

um yeah it is. Seeing as im working on my car and a little bit of help would be nice. Anyways im still getting 12 v to # 28. Anyone wanna explain 2 me whats going on? and why #28 fuse is getting so much voltage? Even when the key is out?Originally posted by RobIs this a technical question?Last edited by e30 gangsta; 11-12-2005, 10:48 PM.Comment

Voltage means nothing. Amperage is the power that the voltage can move. 12v is 12v.
Do continuity tests to ground from the pins in the dme connector that go to the ignition coil. You see 12v at the fust because that is the start of the circuit, not the end. You need to open the circuit after the fust until the fise stops blowing, then trace the short in the circuit that is causing the draw.'88 M3.2 S54 Lachssilber/Black

thats what we are doing as we speak. We isolated two of the circuits. the antenna and cigarette lighter they are tottatly dissconected from the power distrubition center. We are trying to trace the the + ignition coil lead... its the only circuit left connected to that fuse. NEED WIRING DIAGRAM PLEASE we are tearing up wiring harness left and right trying to find the short. We get 12v reading when measuring inbetween fuse terminals becuase theres a short to ground.Originally posted by M3 RyanVoltage means nothing.
