    Turn Signal Issue

I finally have the funds to do a lot of work to the E30, and fix its various issues.

I searched, couldnt come up with any solutions. This problem applies to the turn signals and the hazards.

My turn signals work just fine most of the time. In extreme heat (PHX in the summer) the signals will either work a couple of times and then stop, or just not work at all.

Even in 70-80 degree weather, if the turn signal is left on for more than a minute the problem will reappear and the light will stop flashing, and the light in the gauge cluster stops as well.

They never stop in the on position, always in the off position, like the lever is in the center position.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Turn signal relay going bad is what it sounds like to me. It gets too hot and the solder joints can't ground it out anymore due to the heat. Cools down and all is well.

I agree that the likely candidate is the relay. A cross check on that is to see if the hazards work when the turn signals don't. If the hazards do work, the turn signal switch becomes the probable cause.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I was just going to say/predict this.

          Thanks gents.

When the turn signal stops working, the hazards wont work as well.

Purchasing a new relay as I type.
