Do the IE motor and transmission mounts transmit a lot more vibration or noise through the car than oem? Whats the general opinion on these upgrades?

IE motor/trans mounts???
As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.Tags: None

Obviously theyre going to transmit more noise and vibration. Im just asking how bearable the change is. I put new motor mounts in a year or two ago and one of them has already torn, so I dont want to keep replacing them, Im also doing my clutch soon, so I might as well do the trans mounts at the same time. Im looking for subjective answers not yes or no.

I run the tranny mounts and E12 motor mounts. With the tranny mounts, I didn't so much notice more cabin noise, as I did more vibration through the seat. It's totally a preference thing, personally I think it gives you a more "connected" feeling. Definitely not something you want to do though if it's your DD and have passengers frequently...my car is purely a weekend toy.-Brandon

I have both motor and trans mounts from IE on my car, and while there is some increased vibration, it is not unbearable. If you are a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles and can't handle a little vibration (a lot less than having real springs and urethane suspension bushings), then these aren't for you. I had a similar problem, motor mounts would only last one track day before they split in half. The IE units are awesome and have survived two track days already.

yea i have th motor mounts. I feel more vibration over on myside of the car than where matt sits in the pass. seat. LOL
Seriously tho, I can feel more vibration, and a bit more through like the steering wheel, and down in the footwell.
Its not that bad, you get used to it. It does sometimes feel a bit harsh, on the longer road trips. After riding in a new 325Cic, my car is like the flinstones car.

My car already vibrates and is pretty loud with IEstg3 springs/konis but I dont mind it. So from what I gather, these mounts wont add that much more harshness than is already there. Plus the idea of my engine going through my radiator at an autox or track day scares me.

Originally posted by RobFWIW, the vibration will be worse in an M10/m43 compared to a i6, since the 4s will vibrate more by design compared to the relative smoothness of the 6.
In an E36, the UUC red tranny mounts are unnoticable in an M3, but vibrate the seats in an 318is.
