I'm planning on swapping my wrecked 318is' motor to another 318is since its in much better condition, one thing that concerns me is that this motor has a full R12 system that works great (once I fixed the aux fan). I know nothing about refridgerant vaccuming or exactly how the whole A/C works really, but is it possible to save the R12 that's currently in the system?

Yes, You need someone that is qualified in HVAC. So the person needs to have a purge equipment to recover it and store it. -
Wait, what?
You are taking the engine from your wrecked one, w/R12, and putting it into a car that is not charged, correct?1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

Thanks, that's pretty much all I was asking.
No the engine on the other car is high mileage, unknown history, just overall sketch, the rest of the car is good, my current M42 motor is great so spending a day swapping it over would be completely worth it.Originally posted by TSI♫ Rust flecks are falling on my head...♫OEM+Comment

You can do this. Dismount the compressor on the target car and tie it off to the body so that it isn't putting a big strain on the lines. Then replace that engine remount the compressor. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I think he wants to take the R12 out of one car and put it in another. At least, that is what I think he means. AC really have no connection to the motor other then the compressor being bolted to the block, so I'm a little confused what he is trying to accomplish.Comment
