    Start issues (ICV?)

    Hey guys,

I've been working on the car slowly and steadily, and finally got it on the road today after a while. I had taken off the valve cover to replace the gasket a couple of months back, and then realized that the bolts threads were messed up and had to re-bore a few of them, which I finally got around to doing last weekend.

Anyways, after my first drive today to lunch (which felt great!), the car wouldn't start. Over the winter, I had put in fuel stabilizer and tried to start it regularly. I was able to get it started by giving it a lot of gas, and then I had to keep giving it gas when idling otherwise the car kept idling down and the engine would die.

I've been doing a lot of reading and figured I'd go down the list of things to check for idling issues. Do you think that the some junk got into the fuel system and has blocked the ICV? The other things on my list to check are O2 sensor, MAF, vacuum hoses.

    Thanks!

The ICV dont see any fuel, just air. Try to take it off and clean it with diesel, or something thats not to dry. If you can move the valve easy with feks a screwdriver it should be ok.
Could be a vacum leak, try to start starter fluid around the intake when it runs at a steady rpm. If rpm rises theres a leak.

Thanks - good point about no fuel in the ICV

If it was a vacuum leak, wouldn't it let too much air in, which would make it rev higher instead if it always going down to 0 RPM?
