Can't pop hood open

So the other day i was going to pop the hood to check oil, coolant blah blah levels and when i pulled the lever the cable broke?? so the cable thing came off and now i can't pop the hood :( anyone know any other way?

long flat bladed screwdriver through the front grille. You need to turn a screw thing on the front of the latch mechanism which is on the drivers side of the car.

To be more precise, the latch is just to the right of the radiator when you are facing the grill and about 3/4 of the way up. You will see a circular opening about 7/16" in diameter with a slot in the opening. Stick a screw driver in the slot and twist.
