    european cluster

Here is a link if a speedometer i purchased, when i asked the seller if it is just straight plug and play je said," all you have to do is replace the small white coded plug, front right, just plugged in not bolted." is there anything different from the euro clusters and us ones? as far as connections i figured the hook up was the same?

Those arent oem guages but the cluster should plug right in in the back. That ehite plug on the bottom right is for your engine.

I've played around with a few clusters, so these are my observations. Don't take anything as gospel.

Plugging it in shouldn't be a problem. The euro cluster should have the receptacles for the blue, yellow, and green plugs. As long as it's not from an e30 M3, it should also have the receptacles for the check engine and abs light bulbs.

As for the coding plug (the little white plug on the bottom right, front of the cluster), you can most likely use the coding plug already plugged into the cluster if it's from a 6 cyl car (ie. m20) and your car is the same. Same for 4 cyl (ie. m42), except that if the cluster's coding plug came from a euro 4 cyl m40 engine then you'd need to swap your m42 coding plug (assuming you have an m42).

As for the gauges, with the correct coding plug, the tach and econometer should work. The cluster looks like it has a 60l fuel gauge, so it should work on your car, as long as your car isn't a an early car, or an m42 or e30 m3, then you'd need a 55l fuel gauge. The temp. gauge should be fine. As for the speedo, I'm not sure.

Let us know how it turns out.

EDIT: I just check the part number for the coding plug in the picture (1385364) and it's from a euro m40 car, so you'd definitely need to swap in your m20 or m42 plug.
