The odomoter and trip meter no longer work

The odometer and trip meter no longer work. Is there anything to check before I take out cluster and check for broken gears?

I'm experiencing some cluster gremlins currently, myself - but it seems that if your speedo works and your odo/trip don't that is 99% your gears.

it's 99% your gears...i have an account with jeff kaplan at odometergears.com if you (or anyone else) wants to get in on a small group buy for them, as i like to buy them in minor bulk.

Mine stopped working on the way to Michigan. 250 miles I drove without them moving. Trip just stuck at 755 miles. Got back home, reset it for shits and grins.

Ordered a set from garagistic that day. (Which got here fucking fast by the way)

Got them in the mail, looked at the dashboard and the tripmeter said 41 miles.....

I talk to previous owner and he told me when he took it to local shop to fix convertible top odometer stop working. Local shop mess around with something so I don't think its gear.(Only 59K miles on the car) I will pull out cluster to check anyway but what else should I look for?
Does anyone have diagram how odometer works?

If the speedo works, the ODO gets the pulse signal right from it.

Its either gears,or the speedo itself needs replacing, or the cluster PCB has a bad connection and needs the solder reflowed.

does anyone have odo/trip that doesn't work until it gets warmer? my odometer seems to not roll unless it's ~68+ degrees in the morning.

replaced factory gears with garagistic gears.

Now I have question. My cluster is Moto meter and there are total 5 gear that I could count. Do all e30 have same gears?
I am planning to order it from garagistic is there any other vendors?

Garagistic's website has different pricing for Moto Meter vs. VDO. My gears came last week but I haven't pulled the dash to install them yet (98k miles).

Hope it's an easy fix.
