My tranny had, the green fluid tag on it. But I am still debating using dealership stuff or redline but I am not sure which if its comparable to MTL or MTL 90?
Green Tag means what fluid?

There's no benefit to overfilling. However, it is possible that leaks will occur if the oil level is above the seals. Also make sure your breather valve at the top of the tranny moves freely and isn't gunked up.Originally posted by nickmp0werare there any disadvantages to over filling it?
I've heard, contrary to link above, that regardless of the label, put MTL, not MT-90 in it. I have a red label, and even though ATF D4 is recommended for easiest cold shifting, the MTL is a better match for the aging syncros that benefit from the friction modifiers in MTL.
Oil choice is always a slippery (pardon the pun) topic. Everybody has an anecdote of what works best...
Honestly, for daily drivers I don't think what's IN the gearbox is as important as good shift habits, i.e. gentle upshifts and rev-matched downshifts, never slamming the shifter, etc., for gearbox longevity.Last edited by Old'n'Slow; 11-21-2005, 10:30 AM.Comment

Thanks for the info, I think that changing my 200k diff and tranny fluids should make a welcome difference.Comment
