Does anyone with an M42 have a pic of the belt config?

I have the damn bentley version for the E36 models...but the belts aren't routed the same way.

Does anyone have a pic that shows proper routing and where to loosen the pulley's to remove the belt.

which belt are you trying to remove. the one on the alt. you can adjust the alternator. and then the powersteering pump is also adjustable, and there is an adjustabel pulley at the bottom of the engine. an allen key below where the pulley mounts will move it up and down.

finished...damn you guys, not one person had any clue, or some info to help me out.

i didn't know about screw #10...once i saw that all adjustments were made. shit was really tough to get on the pulley a/c and crank.

for some odd reason, the alignment is slightly off for the a/c belt.

lol its aight dude. i got it down, i left the power steering belt off to see how much of a difference there would be...and what a difference! at speed it feels sooo much better than powersteering, but not enough to completely persaude me to permanently remove it.

Yeah my power steering belt was so loose I could take it off with my hand and I love the difference, just hate parking.

I used to do the same thing with my ITR, just pulled the belt. FWDs will never have good steering feel, so heavy was the best I could do.

With the E30 however, I really like the stock PS feel, not too light, not too heavy. I tried without the belt and it wasnt noticably better but sucked to park. FWIW

maybe there is something slightly worng with yours that makes it seem good.

mine was lighter then any car ive driven besides our jeep.

and i am a wimp with 225's and parking isnt a problem

no, its a low mileage dealer maintained car, the steering system is as it should be. Difference of opinion I suppose.
