    Just installed a Z3 1.9 SSK

    The Good:

The install was fairly basic. If you have basic mechanic skills you and a few friends should be able to tackle the install. We had a lift and it made things much easier. I cannot believe how much shorter the throw is. I could not imagine putting anything shorter than the 1.9 lever on my car. I am running Redline shockproof tranny fluid and it does not seem knotchy at all so far. My stock shift lever became very sloppy and this fixed the loose feeling for sure.

    The Bad:

My tranny mounts are wasted and I think that is why I am getting some vibrations when in 2nd gear. Also I can pop the shift lever up and down while driving, it must not be completely fitting correctly somehow. Any suggestions? When I get my new tranny mounts in, I want to fix the issues.

Shockproof? In the tranny? Say it ain't so! Shockproof is for the differential, and is totally unnecessary for a street driven e30. Put MTL in the gearbox- waaay better for the syncros and better shift quality as well.

BTW, I just did the Z3 1.9 SSK myself and absolutely love it.

Interesting. The shockproof seems to be doing well. I'll have to switch it out of the MLT. I could of swore a bunch of people on here are running shockproof in their tranny's.
