Cruise control?

It doesn't work. Hasn't since I got the car. So far only thing i've heard to do is to get a new cc switch. how do i test the one i have to see if its infact broken, or if something else is to blame, what else could be wrong and what could i do to check/fix?

have a bad brake light bulb?

pull off your knee bolster and look around for a roundish style connecter, coming from the firewall, the wire insulation is different then the other wiring so its easy to find (think vacuum cleaner type) make sure that connection is nice and tight.


does the servo make any noise with the ignition on? before mine died it was making a nice noise all the time.


next check the harness going to the cruise computer, above the ECU, small box with a blue connector, make sure its good. You may want to pull out your bentley manual and check the pins for 12V

check the clutch disable switch, make sure its in place and working correctly.

Cruise control ties into your brake light system, so if thats not working neither will cruse.


I did a complete 88+ cruise control install in my car, so if you need to know anything else lemme know

Mine wasnt working either till this guy James Crivellone came around and borrowed my switch.

after reading your post, about the little round thing, i started poking around under neath.

looking for a little round thing, and not remember your exact words at the time, i noticed the roundish thing connecting to the clutch. well, when looking at that, wether it has anythign to do with the cc syst. , i noticed the clutch wasn't coming back all the way after pushing it in to shift, its loose, and has a good half inch to come forward, but doesn't unless you put your foot behind and pull forward. when it goes all the way against the button/round thing, i tryed the cc tonight randomly, held it and it seems to work...

pretty crazy. wether i fixed it cuz of this and what u said, thanks, but im happy :)

ps. is it suppose to make a knocking sound when it releasing the fuel cable
pss. pressing 0 to get rid of the acceleration doesn't seem to work, the car keeps accelerating...scary..i guess i tap the break to disable it ?

yes, it's working correctly, or tap the clutch pedal.
my CC is fucked and shorts every time I try to use it
