    Skipping RPM at acceleration

    Hi my friends...
    I have a problem with my M20B20 Motronic 1.3 E30...
If I hit the pedal to the grond and start to accelerate intensively, my car skips the RPM and ignition at about 3000 or above. The Tacho felt to 0 and the engine almost stops for 1sec, but after then it works correctly as nothing had happend earlier. It happens if and only if the acceleration pedal is pressed fully, and the WOT (Wide open throttle) switch is enabled on the TPS sensor...
Could anyone help me with that problem? Is there any chance that my trigger VR sensor skips signal, and causes this kind of problem...
I would appreciate for any help...
    Thanks
    regards

The first think I'd suspect in this case would be the AFM. After that the CPS and/or the engine wiring harness.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Thank You for your rep...
I do not have AFM, I have had a MAF conversion. Is there any chance that my MAF causes this kind of skipping?
I'm going to have a look at the CPS thanks a lot...

My problem is identical except that it trips the CEL on @ WOT(usually at the end of 1'st gear), and then seems ok, (additional WOT's do not skip rpm) Then turn the key off/on, CEL goes off and it will repeat scenario.

When I first read the post I missed the statement about the tach. Forget the AFM. the DME is losing power or timing data. A bad CPS or bad engine harness are possibilities. But replace the main relay, check the fusible link, and check the DME grounds on the right strut tower.

Thanks a lot... My TPS has a serious insulation problem, and it should be the possible reason of skipping. But I've driven about 400kms without any problem... so I will change the whole TPS.

            Thanks a lot again...
            cheers

The TPS can cause performance issues at high rpm, but it can't cause the tach to drop like you've described.

If all else fails, pull your spark plugs and regap them and make sure theyre in tight.

I was exhausted... TPS I mentioned is CPS :S
Sorry for my mistake... So CPS has insulation prblems...

Bad cps can cause what you described. If its got issues already, I'd look there first.

                      Hi Guys again!
Thank You for the tips and suggestions, but unfortunatelly my problem is still present.
I have changed almost everything, the main relay, and the two orange relays (one is for the fuel pump relay). Changed the distributor cap and rotor, have brand new ignition wires. My crank position sensor is good, my TPS has been changed as well, and checkd, it work. The car still dies on higher rpm randomly, and it won't start with the starer engine, I have to kick it on with pushing the car, to get it work again.
I think my fuel pump is okay, and its failure does not cause tach fells to 0 while I'm driving. Any idea?
                      Please Help.

Try cleaning out or replacing your ICV as well as cleaning out the intake boot and lines. Did mine step by step here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbF0V7nlxao
