    Trunk Lock Problem

My son broke off the key in the trunk lock of my '88 325i convertible.

I was not too concerned, because the trunk still opened, but then a few days later he also locked the car and the trunk also locked.

I thought the trunk unlocked when the doors were unlocked, but I have not be able to do this.

Any idea why the trunk won't unlock with the doors? I can hear a click by the trunk lock when I unlock the doors, so it seems the actuator is trying to work.

The broken part of the key is down in the lock, so no way to pry it out that I can see.

Any idea how to fix this? Thanks!

I did find on guy who drilled a hole in the trunk lock molding and used a coat hanger. See post below-about the 10th reply. Anyone ever done this? I think I will give it a try. I have another e30 I can look at.
