weird wiper issue? what gives?

Ok so I thought my wiper transmission busted but the wipers DO still work. However when I hit the switch they go down, then up and then back to the home position? Why? Shouldn't it just go up and just back to home position? Anyone know why this is or how to fix this? See the video if I'm not making sense.

It could be that the arm (#4) has slipped on the motor shaft. Loosen the nut (#8 ) and reposition the arm. http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E3...m/wipe_system/
