New O2 sensor installed. Special "Break-In" Procedure?

So I just installed a new O2 sensor. The early two-wire ones are supposed to be replaced every 30,000 miles. It had been just about that for me and I was starting to get really shitty gas milage (read: low 20s in my M10).
Is there anything special that I should be doing to 'break it in'? Should I be driving throughout the whole RPM range for the first couple hundred miles?

Also, how often should I replace the fuel filter?

can't help you there, but let us know your gas mileage improvements.

I'm only getting around 24mpg (city driving) in my M42, and some here seem to be claiming 30+. I'm also wondering if the O2 sensor is an issue, because I don't see any records of O2 sensor replacements in the past.

Your car will generally run rich if the O2 sensor isn't working properly. Which will in turn cause your catalytic converter to become clogged.

just drive your car as normal for 02 sensor, there is nothing that driving can change about it, the ONLY thing is if ur car is extremly rich and it will coat it in carbon and therefore mess it up.

as for the fuel filter every time u change your plugs or do a "tune up" should be when u replace the fuel filter every year or 30k miles, if u got money u can do it twice a year and 15k :)
