How can you tell if power steering pump is bad

So I read diy and did power steering flush by removing 17mm bolt from one of the hose that is going to bottom part of the pump. Then rotating steering form left to right to remove most of the fluid. Put new Valvoline maxlife ATF. But steering is still tight and fluid is still dark.
How can I tell if power steering pump is bad? Pump is not marking any noise. Also I did not disconnect 2nd hose that comes out from power steering fluid reservoir. Where that hose is going and how much fluid that would hold?

I have always had to flush power steering more then once before the fluid remained light.

        1) Is your pump making noise? -No.
        2) Do you still have power steering? -?

I highly doubt your pump is bad. I'd flush it a couple more times.

I am pretty sure that our pumps are such that when the engine is spinning faster, they turn faster (pump more fluid, easier to turn the wheel). At slower speeds, the pump turns slower, and the wheel requires more force.
