The repair for a lighted brake lining lamp when the circuit is otherwise good is to re-solder the resistor on the cluster circuit board for that circuit.

You are completely correct. Thats why its easiest to jump the plug (or wires) & delete the sensor altogether..since we ALL check our brakes routinely anyway, right ? :)Actually if im not mistaken, the light comes on when the wire for the sensor it broken or worn through. Its not from grounding out on the rotor. The little clips and metal pin is just to hold it to the caliper, and then once the pads get low enough it allows the clips to rub through to the wire, causing the circut to be broken. Hence why the light will also come on if the wire is just cut somewhere, or if the sensor is not plugged in.Leave a comment:

If you are cOnfident in your brake job loop the circuit for the sensors and be done with it. Just remeber to check your brake system regularly.Leave a comment:

The O2 light comment was in response to someone saying you had to replace the light. There is a light that sits on the dash right up next to the windshield on my 84 318i to let you know to change the O2 sensor. Once it comes on (I believe at 30k) even changing the sensor doesnt make it go out. You have to remove the bulb.Leave a comment:

I replaced my pads, rotors and sensors and did a full brake fluid bleed. 2 days leter the stupid light came back on. Been ignoring it for bout a year now.Leave a comment:

yup. just a lil advanced technology on a old bmw. once the pads wear enough, the sensor will hit the rotor and ground out. thus completing the circuit and turning on the light.Leave a comment:

Brake lining light= low brake pad lining= meaning the car wants you inspect your pads, to see if they need replacing. Most people just jump these "sensors", you should be inspecting your pads regardless if a light comes on or not.Leave a comment:

It wasn't flashing but it went out the next day. I'm changing the brakes all around today. Thanks for the info.Leave a comment:
