How much should a new windshield be?

I've been thinking lately about getting a new windshield. Mine is all pitted and nappy and gooky and just plain shitty. How much do new ones run? Are ours coated with that like film (I cant remember what its called) that prevents it from shattering? Should I just keep the ole baby? Money isnt really too much of an issue, unless its crazy expensive.

There are compounds that you can get to clean the glass, especially the area where the wipers don't reach. Can't do much about the pits though.

        Barkeeper' Friend does wonders.

I want to do a new window soon. I go through wipers quickly because the surface of my windshield is like sandpaper.
        Im now E30less.

i want a new one aswell i got wiper blade streaks stuck on my window because im guessing the previous owner wasnt bright enough to replace them when they needed to be replaced.

However luckily they are not directly on the drivers side just more like in the middle toward that passanger but you can see them really well when standing outside the car or atleast i can.

if you call a cement truck company and tell them that one of there trucks kicked up a rock and cracked your windshield, all you have to do is tell them when, where, truck number, and direction the truck was headed. My dad has done this many times. The Truck company has insurance to cover things like this. They will send a repair guy out to your house.

Damn thats a lot for a windshield.
The PO of my car lived near the beach, and there are millions of sand pits in my windshield.

If you want an OEM BMW E30 windshield, over $300 sounds right. I just got a brand new OEM windshield, a rock finally did the windshield in after 18 years. I paid just over $300 installed, same deal with a guy that comes and does it at my house.

Uh huh....and do you see a difference between OEM parts and other aftermarket parts that do the same thing...no, not really, but what I've noticed is that OEM lasts longer and is better made.

Now if you are going for a aftermarket lightweight windshield, that would be cool, but I don't think it would last very long on a daily driver.

i guess... but damn... $370 for a winshield... i guess you get what u pay for.

                              o well...

I only buy OEM or better mechanical parts... or make them myself.

I'm going to make some rear shock tower mounts and just buy the inserts from bmp, and I'll be making my own tranny enforcers and motor mount enforcers...
