    parting out prices

if u part out a full 160k m20b25 motor, tranny and wireing. (like for a full motor swap). How much money do u think u could squeze out of it.

and would u get more if u ripped everything apart piece by piece?

the head would go for about 200-400 depending on the condition
the block I'm guessing is not much since there's not much demand for it.
    the oil pan... ???
    wiring haress is about 100
    intake/exhaust manifolds are about 100
    tb is another 50

that's just the prices I've seen around.

if you want to part it out, I'm looking for a block...

        uh oh.....here comes a hijack! :P

I'll have a spare head once I swap mine for a recently rebuilt one. One rocker arm is broke, which is the reason the head is being swapped. (325i)

I have the replacement rocker arm, as well as a replacement for the rocker arm shaft which got a lil screwed up.

My question is: How could I extract the most money from the sale of the head?
        1) Part it out: casting, valves, rockers, springs/cam, etc.
        2) Sell the whole lump: Head w/ replacement parts needed, and with spare head gasket, valve cover gasket etc.
        3) Have the parts put together (my least favorite option, personally)

putting the rockers back together is an easy task... i don't see why you wouldn't want to do that...

option C is really the best bet, since I haven't seen a big market for pieces....

well i'm not sure, but with 120K miles, it might be best to replace stem seals (which I would have left over anyway) how difficult are valve sten seals to install? I have a mechanic buddy that could help me, but I'm only down for it if it'd be worth it.

Yeah, i can see it would be easier to sell a complete head than parts.

valve cover painted black will pull about 100
intake manifold will also pull about 100 if its painted.

not sure why people pay so much for them when they are painted....lazy i guess
