    rusty frame rail, walk away?

Hi, I'm new to the forum, Ive lurked for a while but now that I'm currently looking into buying a 325i I have some questions. I'm looking at one currently where the passenger frame rail is rusted right through. Im thinking Someone jacked up the car there years ago and chipped off the undercoating allowing the exposed frame to rust out. The rest of the car is good. The rest of the car is pretty rust free and I am a decent welder. Is it worth it if the price is right? or should I back away?

    here is a picture:

    Pull back the carpet.

But I would expect a shit ton of hidden rust. I speak as someone who replaced something like half of the passenger floor pan on what was a basically rust free car from the outside.

that is not a common rust spot. if there is rust there, there will be tonnes of rust elsewhere. Walk away.

My e30 was rusted there but on driver's side. And deff look under the carpet for more rust! Personally I'd walk away. Unless you don't plan on keeping the car for long, or later you feel like replacing the rail. But is the car even worth that much work?

don't do it man. no matter how much you think you're saving, what a headache it will be. Wait for a good shell if you're buying your first e30.
