How to repair a dash crack?

I HAD a prestine dash board. I was going to install it today and noticed a small crack that is 1/2 inch long up in front of the defrost vents where it will mate up against the windshield. I picked up one of those Permatex Dash repair kits but don't know if I should use it. I wanted to get some input first. Some people mention drilling holes to relieve stress, others just say fill it with epoxy, others say use the dash repair kit. Who has done what and are they happy with the results?

There isn't much you can do. If it's a small crack, I would drill a hole at each end to keep the crack from becoming bigger and then forget that it is there.

Drilled a hole to stop it and filled it with some silicone adhesive/filler. I should be done with it tonight.
