Looks to me like you removed the circlip already, I got mine out this past Monday by pulling on it with some pliers. Takes some working around and fiddling, but it came out eventually after ~2 mins. The beast is getting it back in and in the right way. On the other side of that cap you are looking at it a spring and another part. Take this cap out carefully so as to be able to know which way to put the other stuff back in.
The picture shows the circlip still in place. That has to be removed and when it is the spring will usually push the cap out. If not a pull with pliers will get it out. Getting the cap out with the adapter on the car is easy. Reassembling with it on the car, not so much. I always remove the adapter and put it in a vice for reassembly where I can use a c-clamp and small socket to hold the cap in while I install the circlip. You will need new o-rings for the adapter and hoses and a crush washer if you do that.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
