..so what lights dont work when the dimmer switch is unplugged or dies?

1988 325i - I know, wrong section but I am hoping for a quick answer so I can drive home with interior lights :)

Lights that stopped working-
--cluster backlight
--ac/heater control backlight
--headlight/foglight switch backlight

Lights that work fine -
-dome light
-maplight
-power window switch lighting

Anybody know the score here?my guess is the dimmer switch and I happen to have an extra one here :) what says r3v?

That sounds like it could be the dimmer switch.

Yeah,I will grab one at the junkyard this weekend. That is what I was thinking.

Yeah,I had a dead short in the ashtray light. Figured that ate the dimmer since all of the fuses are good.
