    Cleaning frame/subframe

I'm going to start taking my bimmer apart soon and When I do, i want to clean alot of the frame/subframe/parts:

Where the bushings went, rear subframe pieces, stuff like that.

What do you guys suggest the best way to clean the metal from the rust, dirt, debris and 15 years of age so that i'm not going to have problems... and so it looks good too?

I have a compressor with a sandblast attachment, but I dont know how well that's gonna work, I could use a wirebrush..... Any other suggestions?

sandblasting works awsome for it, just make sure to get all the sand out after, and don't use gloves when handling the metal after as the grease from your hands will make it rust. then take it and get it powder coated or some other durrable coating as spray paint wont last 2 days without chipping.

          por 15

you will probably want the red can stuff, and maybe a black topcoat if you want

I have used their gas tank sealer with excellent results, and the red can stuff on a classic resto. worked great. 5 yrs later still great. wear gloves :)

Don't forget to have a nice warm weekend and serious ventilation...plus a respirator...don't fuck around with POR15...the shit will fuck you up.

It really makes a wonderful finish though. Worked really well on my Nova.

yeah i love por 15, used it on the belair im restoring. for a good finish you would have to spray it on tho... but on the under carrage you should be able to get away with a brush or roller.
