reconnect sunroof drain tube

so while reassembling my car, I think the hoses in the trunk seperated from the actually drainage up in the roof area. I noticed how much play they have but they are still suspended somehow. anyway, whats the best way to check and secure if necessary?

pour 1 cup of water down the suspected drain, and catch it from the hose in the trunk. if you get 1 cup out, then no leak.
