    Clutch going out?!

Hey guys I'm a new driver and a new driver of a 1983 e21. The clutch was going out when I first got it and finally went, probably also from me learning on it. So my boyfriend and his friend replaced the clutch for me a week ago. Today I was driving around and it started to feel like it did when the clutch was going out the first time! I'm really stressing out and hoping I just suck at driving still and didn't just fuck up my clutch. It takes forever to get going in 1st, sometimes has the vibrating feeling, then I shift to 2nd and it just doesn't feel right and sounds wrong too and is still slow, then when I shift to 3rd and up it's fine.
I'm pretty sure my clutch was replaced fine because my bfs friend has been working for/on bmws for years. Please give me some advice and be respectful! I seriously just learned to drive a few months ago finally and I love my lil BMW and hope Im not fucking it up!
    Thank you!

while driving the car in 2nd gear, put it into 3rd or 4th. than push on the gas pedal. if your RPM's go up but you speed is not increasing, than your clutch is slipping. did they install a new or used clutch?

When I shift to 3rd it feels fine/great! Maybe I'm staying in 1st and 2nd too long? And yes it was a new clutch.

if its a new clutch than your problem is somthing else. not sure if your staying in 1st or 2nd to long. what RPM do you shift at?

Is it possible that you're "short-shifting" and trying to accelerate from too low an RPM? That would cause both the slowness and the vibrating thing. That motor is happiest above 2000 RPM and since you're new, you don't want to venture below that mark. Also, I would suggest 3000-3500 RPM for shifting. Hope that helps!
