my car's HVAC fan will continue to run after the car is turned off (this has deaded the battery as well), and will blow even when key is at accesory. not "on" like normal

Yeah, my wifes 89 325i did this the other day. Only did it once though.

I bet the high speed relay is getting sticky. My suggestion is to turn the fan off before you shut the car off, make sure tha fan is off...then see if the problem goes away.

If it does, replace that relay.

There's no relay for the HVAC fan. You're thinking about the aux fan.
