    replaced belts but left the a/c belt off???

    I have an 1990 325is.... changed the belts today, and didnt put the a/c belt back on. i never use it.. my question is, will this benefit me in any way?.. will it hurt the car in any way.. im a noob.. =/

    Not hurting anything. You wont notice any difference either if you never used it.

      Yep, wont make a difference. Guess the only benefit would be one less spinning pulley to worry about.

          Just keep in mind that if the a/c is working now, it might kill the seals in the compressor. Usually the defrost setting also kicks the a/c compressor on to keep the seals lubricated in the winter.

            As far as I was able to tell that is not the case with our cars. I checked it in the summer by turning on and off switches one at a time with the vents set in various positions to see what made the clutch engage. The only thing that made it function was the A/C button. That being said, I believe on our cars by turning on the A/C in the winter with your heater on full hot and defrost mode it will still help to remove the moisture. The air will be directed over the cold evaporator where the moisture is effectively removed from it and deposited onto the coil. It then passes over the heater core and warms up, blowing hot dry air onto the windshield and other glass in the car.

            That and it keeps the system from getting gunked up and rotting the seals by sitting idle for the winter.
