Is this safe? - Fuel Pump

I had to reattach my older fuel pump and splice the wires together - I was wondering if it is safe how it is put together now... I used a but splice to crimp and connect.

I am concerned about it being submerged in fuel... obviously I don't want any vapors or anything to spark.

    Heat-shrink wrap the connection...

Is it a bit late for that? or would I need to redo it?

I'd be concerned that the plastic on those connectors might not be fuel safe. Polyoefin or Teflon heat shrink tubing is unaffected by gasoline. To be safe, get rid of the crimp splices and use solder connections and heat shrink tubing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

it looks like you are using the heat shrink butt connectors already. just shrink them.

The only thing that might happen is the plastic could deteriorate.

Gasoline is surprisingly very inflammable unless it is a vapor. Movies would lead you to believe that a tank of gasoline is a bomb waiting to go off, but without the right air to fuel mixture, it won't burn.

Yep. A near empty tank is actually more dangerous. But sealed and filled with gas fumes its simply not flammable due to the lack of oxygen.

exactly what he said, infact I posted almost the same question when I wired up my Walbro 255lph pump, and this is what NitroRustler replied to aswell.

my connection was shrinkwrap and butt connectors.
                  worked just fine.

I did mine exactly as you have it since mid-January , no problems at all.. but maybe I should have a rethink to be on the safe side given the plastic might deteriorate . Will check it out this coming weekend.
