    318is (m42) O2 Sensor question

Does the O2 sensor for 318is have 4 wires or 3 wires?

I need to find out which O2 sensor to buy (non-oem, as they are overpriced...).

I found that the Bosch O2 sensor for mustangs and such (item # 13942) have 3 wires and can be had for significantly cheaper - but if my car comes with the 4 wire one, I need to look again...

    Thanks!

4 wire, but 2 of the wires are ground, and can be joined with the 3rd wire.
i however found a 4 wire, but i lost the bill with the part #:(

hey, i used an NTK o2 sensor in my 318is. it works like a charm, i replaced it when i purchased the car and was going through possible parts that could have caused it to run so bad.

it runs great now. i used part number ntk-21027 which is a universal 4 wire o2 sensor. significantly cheaper than the rediculous oem fit. i purchased this in vancouver from Bow-Wow auto parts, they have great prices.

      best of luck.

I paid about $75CAN for the universal NTK part number listed above. I believe the retail price on it was over $135. I have a cash account as I work for a local body shop.

i think that is a generic picture of an 02 sensor. not the one you would be getting.

I ordered it, and the one i got pretty much looks like this

                      [img]http://ngk.com/productImages/1/12A%2Ejpg[img]

i guess i will try it though. There is a black wire, two white wires, and a grey wire, i guess i just connect those to the same colors on the oem harness?
