fuel smell in cab with anythig over half tank

i have a large dent on the passenger side of my fuel tank from po. since i have owned the car i cannot fill the tank more than half way without having the cab smell like gasoline. i checked for leaks and checked the door above the sending unit for leaks and have not had any luck however it appears or shows signs that it leaks from the top of the tank... has anyone else had this problem and any suggested solutions?

Pull the back seat and check under the pump access covers. You may have a bad hose or pump seal.

i already did that and didnt see anything leaking or what not my car only has 50k miles on it so nothings beat up

Did you check when the tank was full to the brim?

Remove the pump assembly and look at the rubber seal. If it is old it might spill fuel when the tank is full.
