Couple questions on my new car.

So since buying my 325e, ive had a few problems with it but nothing too major.

    1) My drivers side door won't lock from the outside, when you turn the key to the lock position it gives some resistance then releases and turns smoothly, it even lets you take the key out after turned 90* without turning back. This started yesterday.

2a) My cluster is going all sorts of haywire. First the temperature gauge keeps changing its mind, warming up to the middle alright but then randomly jumping around continuously, from current temp to red zone, then less then a second later to 75%, doesnt stop dong that unless i wrap on the cluster a few times.
2b) Also occasionally the rpm's drop to 0 even though i can clearly hear the engine running normal. When this happens, the ''inspection" light starts flashing. This doesnt bother me as much as the temp gauge but id like to fix it.

    3) Im hearing a whining noise coming from the rear diff i think. It gets louder around 3000 rpm but when i push the gas it goes away.

At that i say thank you for your help and i hope a few of you know the perfect answer. If anyone in the near by area (Everett, Wa) has a perfectly working cluster, i might be interested in purchasing that from you if its for sale.

For the temp gauge, take out the cluster and examine the SI board for corrosion and the batteries. If that looks good then tighten the ground nut should fix the problem. If your board looks really bad (most of them are after 20+ yrs) then replace it with a Programma board. This should take care of your tach problem too.

Might need a new lock cylinder for your door. And as far as your diff goes, change the fluid first and see if that helps the whine.
