I have a super e motor with 50,000 miles that I put a i cam and springs in. I put 6,000 miles in it. The car was in a hit and run now have the engine which I have taken the head off and put it on a 325ix that I bought with a broken timing belt. My question is can I use the super e bottom end on a rebuilt 85' eta head and use it in my 85' 325e? With the 325e fuel system and etc.

Wow, an super eta 2.7 with 50,000 miles, that is awesome. I wouldnt put the super eta block with the eta head. The pistons are different and the combo won't work out for your benefit. If you could, it would be better to drop the super eta block in the iX, just swap the oil pans, is this correct any iX owners? Otherwise, find yourself an I cylinder head and build the engine back up and sell it for some cash.Old and improved:

No, you can't just swap oil pans and use it in an "iX"...the iX block is set up a bit different (per Pete McHenry) and the intermediate shaft turns in the opposite direction from the normal "i" block. This is sort of important as it's the shaft that drives the oil pump.
Put an "i" head on the super eta block and use it, or sell the super eta block complete to someone wanting to build a budget stroker. Probably not worth a bunch of $$$$, but still worth something....
Bret.
