    mog check fail - Excessive Hydrocarbons

    The bad news is my car failed. The good news, I think, is that it was not on account of the header. Two years ago the car passed with 37 PPM. Now it's pumping about 280 PPM. The car runs great with no visible smoke. Any thoughts on what it might be? Thanks.

    The first checks would be of fuel rail pressure, engine temperature, and ECT sensor operation. If the O2 sensor has 100k on it, replace it.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      high HC can also be attributed to a vacuum leak. Pressure test your system using a smoke machine and find those leaks!

        Thanks guys. Working two jobs, I'll probably have to leave it to the pros. It's good to have ideas as I talk with them.
