    Abs light stays on

    I have a problem.
My abs light stays on after I turn off the engine and remove the key for 3-4 seconds and then it turns off.
Is it normal or I have a problem?
It is not happened every time I turn off the engine but the most of the time.
My car is m42 now and I before was m44 obd2. I had this issue and with m44 too.
    Any help?

The ABS circuit is independent from the motor, so that won't have an effect on it. Is the light on while driving? The fact that it stays on after shutting the car off isn't an issue by itself, but if you're wondering about the system's functionality that's a different question.

      The abs working fine.
The problem is that the light turn on only when I turn off the engine like when is on at the key position 2 before I start the engine.
It stays on for a while and then its turn off.
I have notice that sometimes the heater blower stays on with the abs light when I turn the engine off and take the key.
The blower stops and the abs light turns off after 3-4 sec later at the same time.

        Maybe is a relay problem.
I have 91 convertible m42 and the abs not have relay. It use the engine relay .

That is interesting...do you know if the wiring has been tampered with at any point (other than the swap of course)? I wonder if something was rewired differently than original.

Before with the m44 the abs was connected to Tue engine relay.
Now with the m42 I just plug to the c101 the engine harness and everything worked ok.
I know that my car never had abs relay from the factory.
Before the m42 I thought it was related with m44 but no.
Can it be the ignition switch? Maybe it is not switch off as it should?

I notice that when I turn off the engine I hear a click sound from the three relays in the harness after 1-2 seconds. When I hear the click the abs light turns off.
Is it Normal to have a delay in the engine relay after I turn off the engine?

Mine does not do that, but BMW electronics are notorious when comes to troubleshooting. It is hard to know whether something is normal or not as the car is over 20 yrs old...every E30 has its own unique problems.
