    Low acceleration rough noise

My bitchin' IX makes a grindingish, roughish, but not too hard sound when the gas is just barely pushed. We are talking less than 2K RPM's just barely above idle. After I push a little harder, it goes to it's smooth, small truck sounding regular noise.

Also it seems to idle a little rough with deep bass-y grumbling with no RPM jump visible on the tach.

It's an automatic. Any thoughts? Muffler?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Intake leaks would be the first thing to check for. And that is done by having a shop run a smoke test.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Looks like initial diagnosis is a broken clip between the muffler and cat that is rattling with low frequency. Also there is a wired on head shield on the cat that could be rattling that we are taking off as well. Hopefully that's the root cause and an easy fix.
