    I did mark the splines! The u-joint is stiffer than the '87's joint. The '87 just falls over like a sack of potatoes. The current one takes a little force(not much) to move it through it's entire range, but it feels smooth.

      oh, and anyone want to buy this '87 driveshaft, it has the servicible u-joint. No csb now though. I'll put it up for sale in the other forum too.

        I don't know how much stiffness is acceptable before it results in noticable vibration, but new u-joints I've put in driveshafts before have had no resistance at all to movement. I don't think it would take much to create a vibration, though.

        I'm starting to get the same vibration in my car as well, so it looks like rebuilding the driveshaft is coming up for me. Does anyone in the Vancouver area know a good place to take a driveshaft for rebuilding? I've used Hayes-Dana in Burnaby in the past, but haven't been there in years.
