    Selector rod problems - SSK 91 318is

I have a 91 318is that I just replaced all the bushings and washers on in an effort to rebuild my sloppy shifter. When I was in there, I decided to go with the Z3 1.9 shifter for a slightly shorter throw.

Now that I've replaced all the parts, the selector rod shaft now touches the Guibo.

My selector rod is bent at the end and I'm looking for a straight rod. RealOEM.com has a part listing for both selector rods, a bent and a straight, it appears as though I'm in need of that straight selector rod.

Anyone have one, it's BMW Part #25111221627

And, can I take one from other E30s?

So your rod looks just like the one pictured? Thats odd. Check the lengths, but you will probably want to use one from a 325is. My eta had a straight one (no flex disc) and when it broke I got the one from an iS (has flex disc) these two rods were different, so apparently there are at least 3 different kinds. You can and may have to manually bend the rod for extra clearance.

Ya, it really sucks, but for whatever reason BMW decided to give me the same bent rod that's in the above picture. I don't really want to bend it, I want to get the straight one. It looks like I may need to find a 325is to take it from!

      Thanks.

just get a straight one from the dealer i did and all problems are gone on my car. you can take one from another e30 but it needs to be a 318is only.

Do you mean no flex disc or no vibration damper? I've never seen an E30 with no Guibo.

Yea, vibration damper, whatever they call that stupid ring on the cars without dual mass flywheels. Im suprised that an m42 would have one since it has a super heavy flywheel. Why would it need the extra damping?

Anyways, you might not have a way around bending the rod. The z3 lever usually isnt a problem, but most need to be bent.

for my 318is I didn't have to bend anything to put on a Z4 2.5l lever
