Car deadlocked with the driver door open - can somebody point me the right way?

So, when I went to unlock my car to work on it the other day, the lock turned over with the door closed and the battery dead. However, after a jump the car turned over but the driver door immediately locked. The door to the car was already open, but the driver door for all intents and purposes is "locked" - lock pin down, handle doesn't open from the inside, key doesn't turn the lock from the outside, trunk, or passenger side - but the door is wide open now and won't shut as well.

What do I have to do to fix this, and prevent it from happening again?

Not familiar with automotive locks, so any threads to read or any help at all is appreciated.

if you pull up on the knob on top of the door it unlocks it.

In case the central locking system is the cause, cycle the locks via the trunk or passenger door. If you hear the locks cycle, but the driver's door doesn't unlock and can't be unlocked via the button, something is wrong with the lock. You'll have to pull the door panel to find out what is going on. Be thankful that the door is open.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

It doesn't move, hence the thread.

Trunk lock and passenger door no longer work since this happened - before they worked flawlessly. Say I do need to replace the lock, how would I go about this? Is there a thread on here? Will it still have the same keying? My friend just bought two brand new keys from a locksmith a couple weeks ago for it, so I'd like to keep the same keys if possible.

edit: actually, now that I think of it, trunk lock I remember being near impossible to turn but the popping mechanism operated well when the car was unlocked.

There is a thread here on how to do it. I am too lazy to look it up for you but the process is pretty simple. Take off the door card, remove the plastic cover (assuming it hasn't been removed before), there is a clip holding the lock in place (long flat head or thin pry bar) pop that out and it slides to the outside. Make sure you get the correct lock (early or late - as i recall them being slightly different with the arm at the back) you have to pop the pin at the end of the arm, then the arm comes off then the case slides off. Take out the "key slides" and match them to new lock. Be sure to clean them and re-grease them going into the new lock. reassemble and reinstall.
