Can you Hear when the TB is about to give?

Is it the TB or the waterpump you can hear when they are about to give up?

I heard some noises that sounded something like a crappy bearing or a loose belt or something nasty driving home today. Time to change my belt and pump before I get into trouble. Guess I wont be driving the rest of the week.

The water pump will sometimes make noise before it starts to cause problems, but I would start by checking all of your accessories and their drive belts first.
