    Horn randomly honks

My car is a 1991 318is with an Mtech II steering wheel. I have to leave the horn wire disconnected, otherwise the horn randomly honks when turning the wheel. Any idea what would cause this?

The wire is rubbing, grounding on some metal when you are turning, wire may even be sliced? Its the same effect as pushing the horn. You could just leave it like that so you can let people know your coming around the corner, lol..

Haha I don't think my neighbors will like that too much. I should also note that when turning and re-centering the wheel, it does not automatically disable my turn signal - I must do this manually. Could this be a slip ring issue?

I took the wheel off and snapped some pics of what's back there. I know something is missing and this was done half-assed by the previous owner. If anyone can tell me what I need, I'd really appreciate it.

        The wheel itself:

I think you're missing a little black metal piece that sticks out and cancels the turn signals. Not 100% sure though, that's just how it is on my hub.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I think Vivek is correct although it's not easy to see have a look at #2 here.

Maybe it's just me, but aren't you supposed to have an extra spacer and remove that white stalk top left in your 3rd pic if you are putting an early wheel on an 89+ car?
