    fan clutch making noise...i think?

I have this weird problem...last week we changed out the water pump(oem) and the belts(oem). About a couple of days later I hear a loud screeching noise when the pedal is pushed down (1000-2000 rpm), but went away pretty quick after a few revs. This week it got worse, but the weird thing is that the noise still goes away, but I found that when I put the blower knob on 5, then rev it, the screech comes back, then when I put the blower back to zero or 1, it's gone? I assumed it was something to do with the a/c belt so I just cut it off, it turned out that it wasnt the problem. Thinking it was the belts, i used a belt conditioner. I would have thought it would quiet the belt atleast for a few revs, but it didnt at all.

I looked more and I'm thinking it's coming from the fan clutch. Has anyone ran into the problem of a loud fan clutch, it only happens on sudden revs?

take it off, drive around without it, observe

just dont idle your car while parked, or you can overheat. so long as you are moving the engine fan isnt really needed.

have you check the condition of the belts? are they cracked? how is the tenison on them??

this all will/can cause screeches from the belts

      hope that helps

Sorry for the questions, i barely post, and i come with a problem? thanks guys

for tenison on the belt you should be able to turn the belt sideways in the middle, but it should take some effort.

          its hard to describe...:S

when you took the fan off to replace the water pump, did you place it in an upright position? I have heard that if you don't, the fan clutch will go bad.

it was so tough removing the fan, so we decided to take the off with the water pump still attached. it took a lot of force to remove it. we may have damaged it. i'm gonna take a look at it this weekend. for now i just let the car idle for a while then its gone.
